Duty Station: Abobo Town, Gambella Region
(With intensive & frequent field travels to different Kebeles)
Main Responsibilities:
Ø Assists the Woreda Health Bureau in training health workers and other support staff on EDEP, surveillance, and awareness activities.
Ø Arranges, coordinates, and oversees activities of Woreda and Kebele level Guinea Worm Officers.
Ø Travels to different woredas and kebeles about 75% of the time to ensure all activities are being carried out according to plan.
Ø Provides assistance and guidance to all field staff, as well as partner staff as needed.
Ø Attends all woreda level task force meetings.
Ø Assists the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer when acquiring all necessary data for documentation, and works closely with him/her to ensure quality of data management at all levels.
Ø Conducts bi-annual monitoring, impact assessments, and operational research activities related to surveillance and awareness projects with the assistance of the Program Manager.
Ø Collects, updates, analyzes, and maintains information required to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate program activities and conduct risk assessment and analysis to identify villages and kebeles at risk of Guinea Worm cases and intensify surveillance and awareness raising activities.
Ø Develops and revises annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans with detail activities, targets, budgets, and indicators, and ensures effective and efficient implementation and operations.
Ø Conducts and supports health education and awareness raising activities through household visits as well as in schools, markets, places of worship and other places where people congregate.
Ø Organizes and conducts video shows and cash reward announcements, and ensures distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and placement of Guinea worm disease (GWD) and reward posters and banners in health facilities, schools, offices, markets, villages, places of worship, and other places where people congregate.
Ø Conducts active case search, including through household visits as well as in schools, markets, places of worship, and other places where people congregate.
Ø Performs other duties as instructed by his/her supervisor.
Job Requirements
Qualification: MSc degree in Project Management, Public Health or related fields from a recognized university.
Experience: minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience in project management focusing on humanitarian sector health projects.
NTD experience is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements:
· Willingness to travel and work in remote areas
· Reasonably good experience in health project management
· Able to speak local language of the area
· Highly energetic and able to work independently with little supervision
· Previous NGO experience
· 3 years and above prior work experience in Gambella Region
· Good computer skills
· Recommendation letter from the most recent employer
· Able to present release letter from current employer in two weeks after job offer
