Description

The Education Officer is responsible for ensuring the intended objectives of the Home-Grown School Feeding project in Somali Region are achieved. The officer provides technical support to the implementation of the HGSF project by taking the lead on day to day management, implementation, monitoring and close follow up of the home-grown school feeding project. The officer will also make sure that the school management committee, government stakeholders and other stakeholders are fully involved in the project implementation.

Key Roles and Responsibility:

Lead school level related works to ensure that the project implementation of the Home-grown school feeding is achieved

  • Provide Education related technical support on different activities focusing on those implemented in-school
  • Supervise schools and school feeding activities
  • Mobilize communities to send their children to school
  • Ensure quality in the programme by building capacity and providing training to the WEO experts, FMCs, cookers, cluster supervisors and teachers, etc.
  • Work closely with the key stakeholders including the woreda education office, kebele administration, school management committees including FMC, PTAs, and school clubs
  • Establish system to validate student’s data and continuously monitor the attendance of the students
  • Continuously monitor and follow up of the implementation of the project assessing the effectiveness of the feeding
  • Support the FMCs, food cookers, clubs and other school management committees in undertaking project activities
  • Support the school directors on the documentation of the feeding (food utilization and attendance)
  • Continuously work on the food inventory and inform the gap to the education and livelihood advisor
  • Facilitate establishment of clear network between schools and different levels of the government education offices/bureaus to ensure sustainability and handing over of the project’s activities
  • Make sure Young Women Can Do It and other clubs are functional in schools
  • Prepare implementation reports, weekly, monthly or other periodical reports for DF and Woreda education officials
  • Perform other related duties as required

Communications and Networking

  • Crate good interaction and communication with partners and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Develop good working relationship with other stakeholders in the sectors where DF is working
  • Represent DF in relevant forums related to Education

Duration of the contract:

  • Until December 31, 2020 with possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Qualifications

The candidate should have a minimum of:

  • Degree in Education or other related fields
  • 3 years working experience on Education related programs (community and schools) of which at least half is related with project implementation/management
  • Experience on school feeding programs and working with Woreda Education offices is advantageous
  • Experience working in the pastoral areas of Ethiopia is advantageous
  • Fluency in English and Somali
