Description

The GBV Assistance Officer will oversee the psychosocial support at the Women and Girls Friendly Spaces including; recreational activities, information sessions and skills building activities. The Assistance officer will supervise social workers to facilitate services for vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In consultation with the GBV officer, plan and implement psychosocial support activities at the Women and Girls friendly space
  • Provide direct supervision and support to GBV outreach workers
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans and reports in a timely manner to GBV senior officer. .
  • Lead the dissemination of key GBV messages through outreach sessions
  • Work in collaboration with other GBV staff to ensure risk mitigation measures.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationship with government counterparts

     

  • Monitor supply and logistics needs for women and girls friendly spaces psychosocial activities
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit among all IMC staff.
  • Take any other task designated by GBV senior officer to ensure proper functioning of the GBV program.

 

2, Community Education

  • Assess the needs of the community related to GBV issues
  • Help for social worker by sensitizing of the communities norms and needs for counseling
  • Assist in identification influential members of the community who can play key role in facilitating change.

     

3. Other Duties

  • Compile weekly reports.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Attend training as required
  • Work constructively within a team
  • Any other task designated by the GBV response officer

     

Job Requirements

Required Education and Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school. Diploma preferred. Degree or experience in Social Work, Nursing, Counseling preferred.
  • Background in social work, Human Rights and/or Protection.
  • Experience in providing  training
  • Female candidates are preferable
  • Able to speak Oromifa. Working knowledge of English is required.
