Description

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

The employee will work within the PEP4LEP and SeroSelect TB projects under MDRD directorate at Armauer Hansen Research Institute. Both projects are funded by EDCTP. The employee will participate in the data management process including data entry, quality check and data analysis activities for both projects in the above.

Job Description

·         Entering data and checking the quality of entered data by the data clerks.

·         produce routine summaries of data.

·         monitor quality assurance protocols and routines, data flow and integrity, including remote back-up of databases.

·         Contribute to the overall data system needs for the assigned research projects.

Job Requirements

·         MSc Degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiology or Public Health Sciences with 0 year of experience; OR BSC Degree with 2 years of experience

·         Experience in database management and quality check is required.

·         Excellent interpersonal communication and good personal organization skills.

·         Good communication ability and commitment

·         Good judgment and willingness to take initiative when appropriate

·         Goal oriented and time conscious

 

Terms and Conditions:

1.      Salary: According to the Institute's scale for contract employees

2.      Hours of Work: Are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. However, the nature of the work is such that it might require working late hours and weekends

3.      Length of Contract: This is a one-year post, subject to annual contract renewal
