About the Organization:

VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country. VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Branch Manager C role at Shone Branch Office. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

Major Responsibilities

Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

§  Plans, organizes, coordinates and controls Branch Office operational activities and personnel of the Branch Office;

§  Prepares an action plan to be practiced throughout the year with regards to the credit to be extended to clients and their deposits;

§  Participates in the plan preparation of the Company;

§  Manages and controls financial resources i.e., loan disbursement, saving loan collection etc., according to policies and procedures of VF MFI;

§  Provides micro financing services such as loan, deposit and insurance service to the rural community;

§  Ensures the activities related to saving, credit, etc. are performed as per VF MFI’s policies & procedures;

§  Ensures healthiness of loan portfolio through continuous monitoring and attending on all centre meetings as necessary;

§  Provides efficient service to the client by coordinating the efforts of all branch personnel;

§  Establishes case book and frequently checks staff monitoring and supervision of their respective centres;

§  Reviews the existing operational policies and procedures and forwards weaknesses to the Area Office;

§   Chairs the Loan Approving Committee of the Branch Office and approves loans. Forwards loan approvals beyond his/her discretionary limits with the necessary documents;

§  Ensures that approved loans are disbursed in line with the conditions stipulated by the Company;

§  Countersigns loan contracts and other related payment instruments;

§  Ensures that loans in arrears are repaid and defaulters are served with reminders;

§  Passes long overdue loans for legal action;

§  Follows-up loan cases transferred to Legal Services;

§  Approves withdrawal payments from the accounts of customers;

§  Approves all financial payments including payroll payments and petty cash according to financial policies and procedures;

§  Ensures safety and proper filing of all financial and operational documents of the Branch Office;

§  Provides efficient service to the clients by coordinating the efforts of all Branch Office personnel;

Staff Management

  • Manages and supervises, leads, guides and supports the staff of the Branch Office;
  • Completes all performance management activities including: performance planning, monitoring, and annual performance appraisals of staff reporting to him/her;
  • Maintains sound employee administration of the Branch Office for better output with major emphasis to motivation, training and improving performance.

Coordination, Learning and Reporting

  • Coordinates and collaborates with all concerned government and non-government organs regarding the Branch Office;
  • Establishes and maintains formal and informal communication mechanisms with government, community partners, donors and other stakeholders;
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the micro and small-scale businesses, including best practice examples in-country and internationally, and ensures ongoing personal development and learning;
  • Participates in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned;
  • Ensures that reports are prepared and submitted to the concerned-on time and in a professional manner;
  • Prepares periodic progress reports of the Branch Office and submits to the Area Office Manager.

Job Requirements

·         BA Degree in Economics, Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance or related field.

·         A minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.

·         Ability to provide leadership, communicate effectively, and promote a team approach to enhance staff commitment to successfully implement the Company’s strategic plan;

·         Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels;

·         Clear understanding of micro finance industry and technology

·         Basic computer skills

·         Good written and oral communication skills.
