Background

Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. We are a global movement of people, churches and local organisations who passionately champion dignity, equality and justice worldwide. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.

Christian Aid in Ethiopia strategic priority areas include climate justice, Economic justice, humanitarian/resilience and addressing Gender and social inclusion as a cross cutting priority.

Gender inequality is primarily an issue of unequal power relations between men and women. It violates human rights, constrains choice and agency, and has negative impacts upon people’s ability to participate in, contribute to and benefit from social, political and economic development. The impacts of gender injustice are experienced most severely by women and girls. Therefore, a project entitled ‘Empowering Women and Girls for Gender Equality and Advancement in South Omo, Ethiopia’ is designed taking into account these needs and constraints.

In order to bench mark the current situation and measure the achievements against the projects’ set indicators, Christian Aid is seeking the services of an external consultant to conduct a baseline survey for the collection of reliable baseline data.
