Ethiopian Elderly and Pensioners National Association (EEPNA), is a national umbrella institution of older people Associations in Ethiopia that works for the right and wellbeing of over 6.8 Million older Women and Men in the Country. It is the only institution of its kind representing grassroots older people associations and serving as the main voice of Ethiopian Older people. We aspires to see older person’s rights, privileges and access to basic services attained and their participation in Socio-Economic and political development of the country ensured. With its national hub at Addis Ababa, EEPNA has Regional Chapters at all Regions and Both city Administration of the Country.

Currently with financial support from European Union Delegation to Ethiopia under CSF III program, we are on process to start implementation of the 3 year project titled “Harnessing the voice and contribution of older people in socioeconomic and political transformation of Ethiopia.”  The main objective of this project, implemented nationwide in collaboration with HelpAge International, is to enhance the roles and participation of older people and their institution in the development and democratization process of Ethiopia. Therefore to effectively implement this project we are looking for competent and committed professionals on  Capacity Building and Resource Mobilization Officer position.Duties and Responsibilities of Position holder:

  • Provide technical support and take leading role for implementation of this project with main responsibility for advocacy, Campaigning, networking, partnership and Gender related component of the project
  • Organizing sessions for partnership building between affiliates and potential partners and facilitate periodic programmatic review meetings to verify implementation progress of activities and strategies under the operation plan
  • Responsible for Advocacy strategy development and implement project activities, prepare plan, write performance reports and submit to all concerned on time
  • Working closely with the different work units  to identify priority themes and develop, press briefings, news features, case studies and other communication materials for dissemination
  • Coordinate all stakeholders involved in the project implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation process and Create awareness on project deliverables, responsibilities and expectations among all
  • Closely follow up and monitor the proper accomplishment of the planned project activities and utilization of the project budget,
  • Promote networking and partnership with government and implementing partners to promote smooth and functional working relationships among project partners
  • Actively engage in project proposal development and in fund raising efforts of the Association,
  • Play a leading role establishing and maintaining Gender Mainstreaming, partnership, networking
  • Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement strategy and implementation plan
  • Prepare project plans and budget reports of various activities of the project when needed
  • Facilitate and engage in gathering and document basic evidence concerning older people and their dependents and also strengthen the Management Information System of EEPNA,
  • Provide technical assistance in the recruitment, training ,deployment and supervision of community based advocacy and paralegal volunteers
  • Producing Advocacy and communication materials in support of fundraising and institutional visibility such as brochures, postures and newsletters
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, EEPNA’s  manager

Terms of Employment: One year with possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Main Job Requirement

  • BA/MA in Sociology, Developmental Studies, Economics, Social work, Law or equivalent Advanced Degree
  • Five years for BA and Three years for MA progressive professional experience, including project management/coordination in Advocacy, Human Right Protection, Resource Mobilization, Capacity Building, Institutional Development and livelihood
  • Experience in implementation of Older people focused programming, Intergenerational linkage related and managing EU funded projects
  • Excellent in time Management, attention to detail, creatively solve problems and effectively in teams and prioritize workload and demonstrate deliverables/outcomes
  • Good analytical skills in developing and implementing developmental, Advocacy and human right protection programs and projects
  • Good understanding of stakeholders mapping, networking and relationship establishment and Membership development
  • Strong proposal writing skills, standard report writing and development of publications, promotional materials and research with good understanding of Fundraising and Financial management knowledge
  • Effective communication, high Commitment and willingness to work for and with older people
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external parties at all level.
  • Excellent knowledge and skill of Amharic and English  (Speaking and writing) and knowing other Ethiopian Language is big asset
  • Excellent computer skills and other software applications
