Currently, our business unit. Dereja is undertaking projects in tackling the issue of youth unemployment. Dereja is a pioneer in establishing Career Center services in Higher Education Institutions, organizing regional and national job fairs and design and deliver employability skills training for fresh graduates. Thus, we are looking for a Communication officer that has extensive experience in the field of communication, branding and marketing and social media management and enhancing and managing crowd capacity.  S/he will mainly work with the IMS communication team d reports directly Dereja Program Director.

Job Summary

The Communications Officer will support internal and external communications strategy, designing communication campaign, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinate promotional events. S/he act as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media to ensure that the brand remains top and clear communication is reaching to stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Content Development

  • Developing a company’s content strategy
  • Creating its deliverables. “Contents “such as sales copy, blog posts, presentations, animations, web graphics, videos and social media content.
  • Technical aspect of content creation, such as writing and managing user documentation for company products
  • Assess, test and document new and upcoming products
  • Draft and manage corporate style guide and terminology conventions
  • Support company publications and information
  • Create an editorial calendar to setup when content will be distributed and through which channels.
  • Research and collect information for departmental and company communications
  • Researching industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews and studies)

B. Social Media Management

  • Create, manage and oversee contents on social media accounts
  • Monitoring, contributing to and filtering social media presence of a brand
  • Measuring and otherwise guiding the social media presence of a brand
  • Responding to comments and compiling campaigns
  • Measure the success of every social media campaign
  • Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technology
  • Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network

C. Website content development and update

  • Developing web contents (text, visual illustrations, or, oral) contents that are encountered as part of the user experience on the website
  • Adding new contents that are crafted using compelling language which has the power to attract and influence the right audiences to the website
  • Determining the type, quality and quantity of content needed for the website
  • Updating website by carrying out tasks such as adding most recent and relevant information to the web content

D. Design and Branding 

  • Creating or maintaining a unique name and image for a service or products
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type
  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts
  • Preparing advertising campaigns with a consistent theme to promote service or products.
  • Establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that retains the service or product provider’s image
  • Utilizing design elements (Logo, fonts, and colors) to create perception of brand

General role and responsibility:

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience
  • Supporting the communication manager in developing strategy for the program
  • Ensure the quality of all external communications including events and media engagements that meet company standards
  • Careful implementation of proactive strategy for media engagement
  • Supporting the communication Manager on developing and managing communication tools that effectively displays the Dereja program
  • Supporting the communication Manager documentation and other communications needs as may be required by the program
  • Support Dereja program in program reporting for the donors
  • Assisting in developing manual that are developed in the team in cohesive with the program
  • Assisting the Webmaster/designer in developing contents for the social media.

Term of Employment: One year
