Job Summary

The construction Supervisor WASH (CSW) while based in Shewa Robit Town, supervise the water infrastructure construction works   to ensure quality, timelines of implementation, and assist in better contract management. The construction site supervisor’s main responsibilities are close technical supervision of construction activities at a construction sites, inspecting new and ongoing works, assuring quality of construction as per the Design of the organization to ensure the implementation of water and sanitation and other facilities. The construction supervisor plays an important role in monitoring day to day onsite construction activities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in Preparation of Construction budget breakdown/cost assessment, costing sheets, construction work Schedule according to standards.
  • Works as a focal person to ensure construction quality. Carry out onsite technical supervision for all construction activities as carried out by building contractors to assure quality, timely completion as per the design, Checklist, BOQ, working drawings and Technical specification and verify its completion
  • Ensure general safety and securing of the construction Site.
  • S/he checks and provides a report to the Project Manager for certification and acceptance of construction works.
  • Ensure quality in each phase of construction activity before further steps carry on.
  • Ensure site supervision and make quality assessments /monitoring on work man ships, materials quality and tools to assure the standards of works, quality of materials delivered used for the intended purpose.
  • Make Sure the Contractor has supplied quality materials, enough materials and Labour for the construction of the water project to maintain the schedule and to avoid delay.
  • Works in reviewing the contractor's work schedules and updates; closely monitor the work progress and budget utilization to ensure compliance with the project duration and cost.
  • Review payment requests for the executed works submitted by the Contractor (taking timely onsite measurement for the executed works, record, accuracy of calculation in payment certificates) and submits to project managers for approval.
  • Maintain site book record / communications a filing system for all site memos, copy of payments, instructions, orders, as well as internal/external correspondences and other documents pertaining to the construction activities to ensure detailed records are kept for all construction activities, enabling real time tracking of construction progress.
  • Provides weekly and monthly construction progress reports to Project Managers.
  • Prepares work schedule and construction coordination work for volunteer engagement
  • The construction supervisor WASH assists the family selection committee in conducting beneficiary family selection.
  •  Work Closely with project accountant in maintaining check and balance of project cash flow.

Job Requirements

  • BSC in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Construction Technology& Management and other related fields.

Work Experience

  •  2 years of work experience in relevant construction project.

Desired Skill/knowledge

  • Good knowledge in relevant software applications that is essential for the job –AutoCAD, and etc
  • Excellent knowledge in contract Administration and construction supervision;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
