DM PLYWOOD FACTORY

DM Plywood Factory is newly established producers of plywood and is aimed at becoming one of the leading producers of plywood in Ethiopia. We are currently looking for a Plywood Factory Manager located in Asella, Oromia Regional State.

SUMMARY

The Factory Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to while ensuring policies and procedures are followed up. He/she will be responsible for achieving company business objectives for the plywood factory to include improvements in production, quality, sales, and costs through efficient manufacturing methods which enable customer orders to be processed, manufactured, and shipped on time with cost effective and safe manner.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FACTORY MANAGER

• Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customers’ expectations;
• Increase productivity, while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards;
• Be responsible for production output, customer orders, product quality/quantity specifications and on-time shipping and delivery as scheduled;
• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize resources to produce optimal results;
• Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus;
• Committed to  business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources management);
• Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions;
• Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and build factory staff;
• Commit to plant safety procedures, ensure training and development of assigned personnel to maximize safety (of staff and machine), quality and productivity across the factory;
• Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets;
• Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements;
• Influence and learn from fellow management and other staff members;
• Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts;
• Keep and update  factory data as source of knowledge database for the factory and analyses;
• Support awareness of environmental and safety concerns in a proactive manner to ensure a safe environment for associates and community;
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• MSc/MA in Management, relevant field of  Engineering and other related fields with proven work experience as a factory manager for 3 years; Or  BA /BSc in Management, relevant field of  Engineering and other related fields with  proven work experience as a factory manager for 5 years or above;
• Proven managerial experience in finance, team leadership skills, troubleshooting techniques, factory process management, quality production, sales, and costs;
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise;
• Computer literate (minimum Microsoft Applications).
• Capable of working effectively under pressure and meeting strict deadlines;
• Ability to create accountability and lead by example;
• Knowledge of Afan Oromo is an asset.
