Description

Project design & implementation

Ø  Mainstream crosscutting issues (equality/gender/CHS, HIV and AIDS) properly and in participatory manner with relevant stakeholders in design (proposal development ) of program/project intervention both for development and emergency programs in line with concern and donors standard requirements and guidelines

Ø  Undertake  program staff knowledge, skill and practice assessment ,identify gaps and develop  capacity building intervention activities on crosscutting issues in collaboration with Gender unit

Ø  Carry out gender analysis for different projects and project areas and implement the plan in collaboration with program staffs, HO Gender Coordinator and Gender SPOs

Ø  Take part in the contextual analysis and different assessments on cross cutting issues

Ø  Carry out gender training for staff relating to attitudes, behaviour and programmatic implementation

Ø  Make sure that appropriate CRM mechanisms are put in place and complaints are handled as per CHS standard and guideline

Ø  Document best practices on the implementation of gender mainstreaming.

Ø  Support the programme teams in the implementation of Concern’s Engaging Men and Boys Strategy

Ø  Actively promote sharing of learnings from baselines, end-lines, reviews and evaluations internally and externally.

Ø  Demonstrate understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy

Ø  Contribute to ensuring that Concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with  dignity and respect

Ø  Demonstrate gender equality awareness and gender sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender equality perspective into tasks and activities

Ø  Provide induction on all crosscutting issues and different policies of the organization for new employees, volunteers, contractors and other partners who are in contact with Concern

Ø  Provide capacity building training for staffs and government stakeholders on different crosscutting issues(Gender, CHS,CRM, HIV/AIDS and the like)

Ø  Ensure the maximum protection of programme participants from exploitation by working on the adherence of CONCERN Code of Conduct (CCoC) with three Associated Policies; the Programme Participant Protection Policy (P4), the Child Safeguarding Policy and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Policy.

Ø  Ensure program participant Protections by adhering standards of the safeguarding policy when program participants be in contact with CONCERN during different trainings, meetings, workshops and contractual works.

Ø  Assess the safety and security of different meeting, workshop and training venues in collaboration with project  HR unit

Ø  Provide technical support &Advise to Project Managers

Ø  Follow up & Monitor Strategic Implementation of Concern Safeguarding Issues collaborating with Gender & Safeguarding team in Concern.

Ø  The duties and responsibilities of the job holder not limited to the above activities but includes other duties assigned by the line manager.

Monitoring & Evaluation of Crosscutting issues

Ø  Participate on program design/proposal development and provide technical support to ensure gender sensitive activities & indicators are designed

Ø  Oversee the development and monitoring of gender sensitive indicators in each programs

Ø  Develop participatory Gender sensitive monitoring and evaluation plan together with the program staffs.

Ø  Develop/update appropriate monitoring data collection tools and templates for crosscutting issues in close technical support of the MEAL and Gender team both at all level

Ø  Develop /review /update  mainstreaming , analysis /tools/templates that help the design , monitoring and evaluation of crosscutting issues

Reporting

Ø  Support project learning reviews and donor reports, as require

Ø  Compile  and submit Gender, CHS, CRM, HIV and other reports of  crosscutting issues generated from different programs/projects  as per their format periodically

Ø  Develop case-studies and good practices that can be shared with other internal and external stakeholders.

 Advocacy and Networking

Ø  Play active role in forums, task forces, core group meetings and consortia under the project office related to cross cutting issues for learning, experience sharing and joint action implementation.

Ø  Jointly organise and implement campaigning events to influence decisions as needed

Perform other duties appropriate to the position and/or assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements

Essential minimum qualifications and capacities

Ø  Bachelor’s degree in such as social science ( Sociology Social work); Gender; Developmental studies and other relevant fields of studies with over Four years of relevant experience

Ø  Clear understanding and experience in directly implementing primary quantitative data collection (surveys, etc.)

Ø  Clear understanding and experience in directly implementing primary qualitative data collection (key informant interviews, focus group discussion, participatory qualitative methods, etc.)

Ø  Excellent communication skills; able to work as part of a team and establish relationships with field offices

Ø  Good communication and report writing skills

Ø  Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.

Ø  Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity

Ability to work under pressureCompetencies:

Ø  Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field

Ø  Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children.

Ø  Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff and working with community members
