Job purpose:

Gender mainstreaming Officer is responsible for supporting Concern team in the area of Gender mainstreaming, Cross cutting issues. He /she will play a role in the implementation of gender transformative training for north area coordination office and in the implementation of gender sensitive programming, including Concern’s engaging men and boys approach.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Gender mainstreaming

·       Carry out gender analysis and gender related assessments

·       Oversee the development and monitoring of gender sensitive indicators.

·       Carry out gender training for staff relating to attitudes, behaviour and programmatic implementation

·       Regularly monitor, review and evaluate the implementation of programmes on gender mainstreaming, take appropriate and timely action and extract lessons learned for future program development and implementation.

·       Document best practices on the implementation of gender mainstreaming.

·       Support the programme teams in the implementation of Concern’s Engaging Men and Boys Strategy

·       Actively promote sharing of learnings from baselines, end-lines, reviews and evaluations internally and externally.

·       Support project learning reviews and donor reports, as require

·       Demonstrate understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy

·       Contribute to ensuring that Concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with  dignity and respect

·       Demonstrate gender equality awareness and gender sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender equality perspective into tasks and activities.

·       Demonstrate understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy

·       Contribute to ensuring that Concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with  dignity and respect

·       Demonstrate gender equality awareness and gender sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender equality perspective into tasks and activities

The duties and responsibilities of the job holder not limited to the above activities but includes other duties assigned by the line manager.

Safeguarding at Concern: Code of Conduct and its Associated Policies

Person Specification: 

Essential minimum qualifications and capacities

·       Bachelor’s degree in such as social science (research related), Monitoring and Evaluation, statistics, Nutrition/Health Monitoring, Public health etc. and other relevant fields of studies (related to M&E, development, research, data analytics, etc.) with over two years of relevant experience

·       Experience in humanitarian programming in addition to development programming is an advantage

·       Clear understanding and experience in directly implementing primary quantitative data collection (surveys, etc.)

·       Clear understanding and experience in directly implementing primary qualitative data collection (key informant interviews, focus group discussion, participatory qualitative methods, etc.)

·       Clear understanding and experience of quality assurance in data collection

·       Ability to provide technical advice and support

·       Experience of providing training and capacity building to programme and M & E staff

Excellent communication skills; able to work as part of a team and establish relationships with field offices

Competencies:

·       Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field

·       Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children.

Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff and working with community members
