Position Summary

This position is responsible for the graphic design and execution of mechanicals for marketing materials for Vanguard University. The Graphic Designer implements the institutional design image into electronic, print and other applications and creates accurate mechanicals for a variety of marketing materials. The ideal candidate is proficient in both the design and production roles and can move easily between the two as dictated by project flow. The Graphic Designer will report to the Marketing Manager.

Essential Functions

• Work under the direction of the Marketing Manager to develop concepts and graphic designs for VU marketing materials; this includes, but not limited to, printed promotional materials, advertising, recruitment, fundraising materials and the university website.
• Enforce university design and brand standards as they are integrated into a variety of applications.
• Execute accurate art files for release to publications, printers and various marketing materials vendors.
• Identify risks to the organization within the department and discuss risk reduction options with immediate supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum two years graphic design experience in an agency, higher education or private industry.
• Computer skill set that includes desktop proficiency with the Macintosh operating system and software programs including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe After Effects and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in graphic design, photo retouching, GIFs creation and layout
• Evidence of creativity, innovation and vision as it pertains to marketing materials.
• Basic photography skills
• A thorough knowledge of pre-press standards and ability to package and send accurate files to printers.
• A clear understanding of branding and the ability to design with a consistent look and feel.
• Knowledge and acceptance of principles and philosophies of Vanguard University.

Salary

Full-time position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a generous benefits package.
