World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is an International Humanitarian Christian Organization whose objective is to provide holistic and integrated development and emergency response programs in the country. WVE  has an immediate opening for a person who fulfills the following qualifications.

 

Purpose of the position:

The responsibility of the Health Officer is to implement the Life-Saving Emergency Health and Nutrition Response in three disaster-affected communities in East and West Hararghe Zone, of Oromia Region (Melka Belo, Goro Muti, Habro).

S/he will provide technical support to Strengthen health facilities to deliver quality primary health care services to crisis affected host communities, IDPs including for people with mental health needs. The position holder will provide capacity building training to healthcare providers at public health facilities on the latest information on COVID-19 response. Furthermore, the health officer will support the Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs) and provide training for rural and urban Health Extension Workers (HEWs), Health Development Army (HDA) members, community and faith leaders, and community health volunteers on COVID-19 self-assessments, screening, self-protection, case definitions, prevention and case management. Additionally, S/he will also support woreda/facility level Routine Immunization, vaccination campaigns including vitamin A supplementation and support community level public communication campaign to raise awareness on COVID-19 and other epidemics prone diseases

1.      Major Responsibilities

Support woreda/facility level Routine immunization, vaccination campaigns including vitamin A supplementation and support community level public communication campaign to raise awareness on COVID-19 and other epidemics prone diseases.

Provide capacity building training to healthcare providers at public health facilities on the latest information on COVID-19 response

Support outpatient consultation at all project supported health centers in the targeted woredas and visit health facilities.

Actively engage in distribution of precautionary measures for infection prevention and control and share COVID-19 key messages and actions to communities

Provide technical assistances for woredas and health facilities and also coordinate with COVID-19 response focal point at all PHCU level COVID-19 related activities.

Support at triage, identifying suspected cases with COVID-19 related sign and symptom, if needed raise consultation with COVID-19 focal person, support specimen taking, linkage with quarantine center

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experienc


    : BSC degree in Public Health, Nursing and related field.

    Work Experience required:  Previous work experience at least 5 years in curative and public health promotion, and infection prevention and control.·         ·         Effective in written and verbal communication in English [and insert language(s) here].

    ·         Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

    ·         Training in COVID-19 Operational Planning Guidelines and COVID-19 Partners Platform to support country preparedness and response
