Building Resilience in Ethiopia (BRE) Programme

This programme will support ‘the Government of Ethiopia in leading and delivering an effective, more self-financed and accountable response to climate and humanitarian shocks’.  The programme will also play a key role in better monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian delivery in Ethiopia, particularly under the broader BRE programme.

The Role

We are now seeking to recruit a junior professional Working under the supervision of the BRE DRM work stream team leader. the Junior professional will play a pivotal role in supporting the DRM Partners’ Program/Project Integration Committee of the National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) an efficient and effective manner.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate both coordination and facilitation of the meetings conducted to synchronize/integrate the projects/programmes of the partner organization working for NDRMC.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Junior professional will be member of the project integration committee, working closely with the DRM advisor based in NDRMC, as well as BRE DRM work stream staff.

The junior professional will perform tasks and undertake responsibilities as follows:

·         Support in communications and IT related activities required for the coordination purpose

·         Organizing meetings, recording of minutes and support the production of presentations to the committee.

·         Produce briefs and reports and disseminate to relevant stakeholders and institutions

·         Managing and follow up of communications for the committee.

·         Support to coordinate trainings/ workshops and miscellaneous meetings organized for NDRMC and partner organizations as required.

·         Follow up financial settlements expended for workshops, trainings and consultation meetings.

·         Support routine works of the secretariat and organize documents gathered from partner organizations

Job Requirements

o    Educated to degree level, preferably in a social science or allied discipline

o    Minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate experience in organization(s) or government department(s) engaged in humanitarian or development programmes

o    Outward-going and self-confident

o    Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude; able to take initiative and work without constant supervision

o    Demonstrated experience in project administration and coordination

o    Strong computer skills: MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically); the ability to use - or develop - project management and tracking tools is essential.

o    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic

o    Attention to detail

o    Demonstrate a flexible ‘can-do’ approach to work, willingly flexing between higher and lower level tasks, as required

o    Other reasonable duties, as requested by the committee.

 

This role is being offered as a short-term contract for 6 months initially, with possible extension. The expected start date is July 15th, 2021.
