Project: “Technical Assistance to Support EU – Coffee Action for Ethiopia”, EuropeAid/139699/IH/SER/ET

Project implementation period: 42 months (start date 3rd of March 2020)

Position: Procurement Specialist

Duration of the assignment: 63 working days, expected start mid-August 2020

Duty station: Ethiopia; Addis Ababa with some travels to project regions, woredas and sites

Scope of work: Under the direct supervision of the TA, Team Leader, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the highest efficiency in project management and the provision of accurate, thoroughly researched and documented information  on procurement related progress and potential delays on a daily basis to the project management.

Qualifications and skills:

  • At least bachelor’s degree in procurements & supply chain management, accounting, finance, business analytics or related, preferably master’s in above mentioned fields of study from accredited university or equivalent institution
  • Additional certification in the field of procurement desirable,
  • Strong analytical, organisational, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented team player, excellent administrative and reporting skills
  • Fluent in English (writing, speaking, understanding)
  • Motivated, focused, flexible, hardworking, and eager to learn
  • Thorough understanding of project procurement operations and processes
  • Ability to assess costs, analyse project supply needs and to work independently

General Professional experience

  • A minimum of 8 years progressive hands-on proven experience working in procurement and supply management at least half of which in Africa or other ACP country/countries in the same area
  • A natural leader with demonstrated experience and proven track record of working in multicultural and multi-disciplinary team of professionals
  • Hight emotional quality & outstanding ability to work in a team and independently, flexibly and responsively, and
  • Robust analytical and quantitative communication, presentation, and report writing skills
  • Strong ability to adapt to changing working conditions, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Specific professional experience

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement and supply chain management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in EU procurement and grant, policies and procedures
  • Strong supply chain software and Microsoft Office applications, Including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Able to adapt to changing working environments, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Experience working at an international consulting firm preferred
