Job Purpose

To ensure institutions learn and lead on M&E, and related research activities with particular emphasis on Central Rift Valley Project, but also contributing to the wider SOS Sahel Ethiopia Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a program Monitoring, Evaluation, Knowledge Management & Learning (MEAL) framework with indicators for output, outcome and impact and facilitate the development of a strategy that informs effective program delivery by relevant program staff of the project;
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive MEAL system for ongoing and future projects in line with agreed project proposals;
  • Lead and undertake baseline, mid-term and evaluation and other need-based reviews, evaluation of ongoing and future program/s;
  • Organize, compile and produce periodic and other need-based programs/project progress reports;
  • Document best practices and facilitate reflection with relevant program staff and partners to identify policies and practices that could be influenced through advocacy or program implementation;
  • Coordinate facilitation of learning between the different programs and contribute to the refinement of the ongoing programs action plan;

Job Requirements (Skills and Competencies)

  • MA/MSc in Development Studies, Research, Economics;
  • Proven ability and experience in program monitoring, evaluation quality assurance & learning (MEAL);
  • Minimum 5 years preferably in NGOs;
  • Proven ability to synthesize and distill information from a variety of sources, to draw lessons from projects; documentation and summaries complex information accurately and concisely;
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills;
  • Excellent English writing and speaking skills;
