Employee Position Summary

 

This position is more of a technical position in IMC Ethiopia field office, and the position holder will work under the direction and support of COVID-19 project specialist and closely work with Senior health program Manager. The position holder is responsible to lead and coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of COVID-19 outbreak response through planned intervention of International Medical Corps designed in East Hararghe zone. He/she also responsible to monitor and follow up of the day to day implementation and service provision of the senior project officers for COVID-19, support surveillance and early investigation and response and also provide technical support, follow up of early warning, regular data collection, mapping of project sites in terms of occurrence of COVID-19 outbreak, She/He will represent IMC in COVID-19 outbreak prevention and response, meetings organized at the zonal and woreda level.

 

 

Essential Job Duties and responsibilities/Scope of Work:

 

  • Lead and responsible for outbreak especially COVID-19 reponse intervention at the project sites under his/her supervision.
  • Create smooth relation and collaboration with Government stakeholder.
  • Prepare detailed implementation plan and share with zonal offices
  • Ensure implementation of all project planned activities upon expected quality and schedule at all levels.
  • Organize and facilitate review meeting to review gaps and project progress.
  • Follow up of project implementation through organizing regular update and experience sharing meeting among staffs.
  • Undertake assessment to identify gap and status of COVID outbreak and surveillance at project sites by engagement of Health response officer.
  • Provide technical support for project staffs and government health workers on proper implementation of the service.
  • Organize joint supportive supervision by involving the key health partners at zonal and woreda level.
  • Work in close consultation with COVID-19 project specialist, senior health program manager and field office manager while implementing all activities and utilization of budget.
  • Represent IMC in COVID-19 outbreak preparedness and response meeting organized at project site.
  • Prepare and submit biweekly, monthly, quarterly, donor and government reports timely to field offices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in ensuring community participation and gender issues in humanitarian programming.
  • Lead and responsible for the project intervention and sites under his/her supervision.

  • Organize and facilitate review meeting to identify gaps and project implementation status

 

Reporting and M/E

  • Regularly collect information and data from woredas and prepare monthly project   updates and regular progress reports on outbreak response activities undertaken at field site.
  • Assist Senior officers to enable them compile the field based reports and prepare simplified reporting formats.

 

 

Additional Tasks:

  • Collaborate with other actors working in the target community
  • Be flexible and be able to give assistance with different activities not included in this primary job description.
  • Implement other PHEM related activities as per direction from project specialist and Senior Health program manager.

 

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, public health, or Environmental health from recognized institution plus 4 years of experience in related field with relevant experience.
  • Bachelor degree in Public health/Nursing or related field of study with 8 years of experience in related field.
  • Experience on emergency PHEM intervention like outbreak investigation and response,
  • Training on PHEM preparedness, early warning and response
  • Experience of facilitation of training review meetings and workshops
  • Experience on budget and manpower management
  • Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft applications
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to develop good team spirit and support field staff
  • Knowledge of the respective site language
