Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.

The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia, which are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives. EMwA envisions to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.

To achieve the desired results, Ethiopian Midwives Association would like to hire competent candidate for the following position.

Position summary:

The Project Coordinator for Orange Knowledge Program Institutional Collaboration Project reports to the Program Manager and receives additional instruction from the Executive Director, is responsible for coordinating Project activities and closely works with partners. The job incumbent conducts and coordinates different activities of sexual and reproductive health and rights among women in Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Trainings. S/he ensures that regular monitoring and evaluation of project progress is conducted and findings of best practices are documented and feed in to the planning process.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Establish & create common understanding among implementing partners and ensure smooth implementation of the project.
Coordinate and conduct high-level sensitization meeting to create awareness of project with MoE, MoH & Midwifery Educators as deemed necessary.
Coordinate project baseline assessments and synthesize the results
Establish & create common understanding among implementing partners and ensure smooth implementation of the project.
Ensure gender mainstreaming and analysis in project implementation
Organize technical and logistical support for meetings, workshops and events.
Prepare technical documents relevant sexual and reproductive health and rights
Ensure gender equality in every aspect of the work.
Create awareness among stakeholders and ensure the rights of girls and women be treated equally
Execute sexual and reproductive health and rights activities in timely and quality manner
Provide technical support into the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; assess the outputs and outcomes of program interventions and activities in the program area.
Conduct supportive supervision to the project implementation area and document the findings for improving results.
Integrate sexual and reproductive and rights in to existing curriculum
Strengthened gender office in technical and vocational training institutes
Ensure institutional collaboration in both local and foreign project partners
Enforce technical and vocational and university policy has embedded student satisfaction assessments and use accordingly
Ensure budgets are properly utilized to the purpose and make sure that the budget utilization are complying with donor, organizational other requirements and regulations
Prepare project annual, bi-annual and quarterly plan in the light of different demands (donor and government)
Ensure quality and timely reporting and documenting of project activities including preparation of quarterly/yearly program progress reports;
Prepare activity reports in line to the project work plan and communicate relevant bodies on timely manner
Perform project evaluation in collaboration with monitoring and evaluation unit of the association.
Execute other additional activities whenever requested by the supervisor.

Reports to: Program Manager

Additional instruction from: Executive Director

Length of Contract: For one year and will be extended based on performance and availability of fund.

Job Requirements

Education:

MPH or MSC or BSc in Midwifery, Nursing, Public Health, Health Education or other health related fields.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 Years of experience for masters and 7 years for BSC degree out of which 2/3 Years in managing/coordinating health programs in NGO and familiarity with the Ethiopian educational system and Health Sector Transformation Plan.
Proven experience in program management or coordination with HEIs/TEVET, MOSHE and FMOH.
Sufficient knowledge and experience of working in NGO section and MNCH area at National and /or International level.
Having experience in sexual and reproductive health programs.
Additional Training:

Computer Training Certificate
Project /Program Management training Certificate is an added value

Excellent analytical skills and software’s (Stata, SPSS, Epi-info, open code )
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work under pressure

Desired Criteria (An Asset)

Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.
Being a Midwife or having Midwifery background
