KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project-implementation and monitoring

Coordinate the regional, zonal and woreda level execution of the LB project annual implementation plan in SRS and SNNPR, in cooperation with the ZEOs, WEOs and other stakeholders.

Ensure the regional, zonal and Woreda level programming targets being met, and report discrepancies and changes to the project Manager.

Prepare quarterly and monthly plans, aligned with allocated budget and programming targets.

Ensure Regional, Zonal and Woreda level responsibilities execute in line with regional office expectations and schedules.

Identify opportunities for public-private partnerships.

Partnership with Regional, ZEOs and WEOs and other Zonal and Local Stakeholders

Lead relationship building with Zonal and Woreda leadership.

Conduct orientations and trainings of Regional, ZEOs, WEOs and WCYA.

Support and provide technical assistance to community outreach strategy development

Follow up and provide support to mother tongue primary teachers.

Project deliverables including regular program reporting and annual work plan development.

Participate in annual work plan development, developing work plans in conjunction with zonal, woreda and School stakeholders.

Provide inputs into regular reporting on the project progress and success related to areas of responsibility, to be incorporated into project reports.

Participate actively in yearly budget planning with reference to donor approved budgets and project proposal;

Prepare and Provide training for mother tongue and English language teachers on Literacy Boost approach.

Develop and communicate project-monitoring plan with cluster supervisors, pertinent government stakeholders and line manager.

Prepare and communicate procurement requests, ahead of time;

Provide technical support, including coaching to coaching and mentoring of target teachers ahead of problems take place.

Ensure stationary and related print rich creation materials are distributed and used properly at school centers.

Represent Save the Children in relevant /regional forums, technical discussions and meetings.

Closely follow up and provide technical support for LB scaling up at each intervention Woreda level.

Support final evaluation of the projects and gather feedback from end beneficiaries.

Using appropriate M&E framework and tools, periodically monitor the status and progress of achievement of the project objectives and outcomes in each woreda;

Collect, document and report relevant data, success and case stories on achievement of project;

Prepare periodic and quality reports and timely submit for line manager

Monthly basis produce complaints received and managed and report to line managers;

Prepare and submit regular activities achieved on child participation in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation and report to line managers;

Undertakes additional assignments, as need arises, pertinent to successful completion of the project.

Support team to conduct orientations and trainings of ZEDs, WEOs and cluster level staff.

Coordinate, Support and provide technical assistance for Sustainability and scale up LB program activities in to non-target woredas and schools.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING AND OTHER KPIS:

Providing orientations on Child Safeguarding for teachers, education experts, communities and project beneficiaries;

Ensure timely reporting of any suspected/concerns on fraud and child safeguarding issues;

Ensure timely reporting of the security situations in program implementation area;

Ensure child participation in project monitoring and evaluation through invitation for meetings, joint supervision, workshops etc;

Ensure complaint are appropriately received and responded timely;

Ensure consistent reporting of any humanitarian situations in project implementation area;

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Educational Leadership and Planning, Psychology or related field, and minimum of 6 years’ working experience in education sector particularly in preschool programs.

Experience working on donor-funded education projects in primary school role

Experience leading and overseeing teams primary school teachers

Preferably has skill in Emergent Literacy and Math;

Experience supporting community mobilization projects and/or projects targeting community and school level stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to work successfully with ZEOs and woreda level government partners and stakeholders.

Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English and Amharic and fluency in local language in the respective zone/area is mandatory.

Experience working in government education offices.

Good computer skills (particularly Excel, Word, ppt and database)

Desirable

Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field

Experience working in Regional and Zonal level government education offices/NGOs working in the same operation areas at zone/woreda level.
