The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a project manager to lead the project team in developing affordable, safe and nutritious prototypes of papaya-based products, from the formulation of a viable business model through to project implementation. This role will be based out of Addis Adaba, with extensive travel required across Ethiopia.

 

About GAIN

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager, Supply Chain for Nutritious Foods (SCNF) will be responsibe and accountable for the overall management of the SCNF fruit processing project in Ethiopia.

Role specifics include;

  • Plan, implement, monitor and track the project outputs
  • Streamline the joint grants towards dried papaya processing projects.
  • Identify and assess project risks. Report on them and develop strategies to address any risks.
  • Work with the Senior Project Manager, Knowledge and Leadership Team, Global Programme Staff and other stakeholders to implement all components of the project
  • Collaborate with other teams to facilitate stakeholder alignment and develop key partnerships
  • Engage with Government departments to revise, develop and harmonise policies
  • Ensure that activities and outputs are achieved in line with agreed deliverables

Job Requirements

About you

You will need to have proven project management skills, underpinned with a solid understanding and experience working within food systems. You must have demonstrated success working with diverse partners in time-bound prokects, particularly related to food systems, agriculture, nutrition or similar within the international development space.
