We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Regional Program Operations Director for the anticipated five-year USAID-funded Eliminate Tuberculosis from Ethiopia (ETBE) Activity.

Job Summary:

The Regional Program Operations Director will lead and coordinate the implementation of interventions in the regions and zones. S/he will report to the Chief of Party and will be a member of the senior project management team. S/he will also have a reporting responsibility for technical, financial, contractual and human resources issues to the administrative system. S/he will work closely with the Technical Director/Deputy Chief of Party and technical advisors to ensure efficient use of available experts within the project. The Regional Director will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and technical direction of all activities including the work of sub-recipients in the regions. S/he will be responsible for achieving required project results through effective project planning and management, technical advising, administration and oversight, monitoring and evaluation, research, CLA and partnership management in the regions. In coordination with the COP, s/he will ensure a comprehensive approach to institutional development and strengthening, and provides programmatic leadership to ensure seamless planning, implementation of activities and technical support in the regions. S/he will coordinate with the Technical Director, Finance and Operations Director to support the technical and operational management of the regions in line with Activity’s approaches and guidelines. S/he will be responsible for the oversight and the management of project staff in the regions. S/he will be responsible for timely implementation, monitoring and reporting of project interventions and results to the senior management This position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree Public Health or a related health field from an accredited college or university; MD and Master's degree preferred;
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing and implementing TB, TB/HIV, MDR-TB and/or other infectious disease prevention and control programs;
  • Experience managing similar health projects/programs, preferably TB and MDR-TB programs;
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation of similar health projects;
  • Proven abilities in fostering teamwork, problem solving, and conflict management;
  • Experience developing partnerships with government entities, including local governments;
  • Prior experience on donor funded projects and particularly TB programs in Ethiopia or similar settings would be an advantage;
  • Excellent communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across technical disciplines; and
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic.
