Various projects in Ethiopia are looking for support from a senior financial manager (m / f / d). These include projects that were financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and some of which include large-scale combined financing from other donors. The positions are planned to be filled flexibly between September and November 2020.

Your tasks

• Management of commercial processes as well as financial and budget planning
• Personnel responsibility for the team of finance and administration specialists for the project
• Procurement of material goods and service contracts
• Advice to both the program management (as well as the project management) in all relevant commercial and administrative questions
• Coordination of procurement processes including the choice of the appropriate procedure
• Financial reports
• Monitoring costs, expenses and demands of the project as well as monitoring the costs per output
• Advising project staff on contractual matters

your profile

• Completed university degree in economics with a focus on finance and controlling
• Several years of professional experience in financial management or a comparable position, preferably with previous experience in combination financing from the EU or DFID (Department for International Development)
• Profound experience in complex financial tasks
• Experience abroad in a managerial position is an advantage
• Experience in performing internal controls (audits)
• Proven project management experience ideally in an international environment

• Excellent knowledge of GIZ systems and procedures such as OnSITE Reporting, OnSITE Operations, KOMP desirable
• Leadership experience
• Good conceptual, analytical and communication skills
• Proficient in German and English
