Purpose:

The Senior Financial Officer contributes to the overall success of the finance department of the Program Office but also ensuring that financial duties assigned are carried out in a professional and timely manner.

Typical Responsibilities - Key end Results of the Position:*

  • Checking the accuracy of documents from program areas
  • Prepare JV’s and re-allocations for assigned program areas and A.A
  • Prepare balance sheet specifications per quarter as assigned
  • Support designated sub-field offices, if any by periodic visits
  • Support the annual projects audits/spot checks
  • Ensuring all supporting documents are complete before payment approval
  • Ensure daily transactions are in compliance to the Policies & Procedures
  • Ensure timely cash collection from donors through timely reporting
  • Perform GL analysis and ensure correctness of the financial data entered by the FOs
  • Perform bank reconciliations as necessary
  • Prepare a quarterly cash request based on forecasted activity plan.
  • Send the actual vs budget report to budget holders
  • Prepare Termination Benefits
  • Prepare financial reports to donors
  • Exchange reports and financial data as per the set timeframe.
  • Monthly staff payroll preparation
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by your supervisor

 

Dealing with Problems:

The incumbent should have a high degree of problem analysis for both external and internal environments in order to propose viable solution which is in line with the organizational rules and regulations

 

Communications and Working Relationships:

The incumbent should have medium degree of communication skills in order to deal with colleagues, other internal and external parties including business people.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and Finance
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience in Accounting and Finance
  • Excellent English language communication and reporting skills
  • Good knowledge of accounting policy
  • Sufficient Knowledge and proven skills of using financial computer system software & programs
  • Experience working with NGO is preferred
