CARD is a board-led, for not-profit organization registered in Ethiopia under the revised Civil Societies Law 1113/2019 with registry number 4307. CARD envisions to see a democratic Ethiopia and has a mission of echoing principles of democracy to make it the rule of game in Ethiopia.

CARD is currently looking for energetic project manager to help the Center effectively manage its project activities that are targeted to make human rights a movement of the young generation.

Main Duties

  • Coordinate projects that focuses on human rights, rule of law and democracy.
  • Ability to work with and coordinate minors (between ages of 15 and above).
  • Prepare action plans and reports for workshops, trainings, panel discussions, and other public events.
  • Support in the preparation of reports, background papers, studies and concept notes in the areas of human rights, democratic institution building, elections and youth peaceful conversation and political engagement, when needed.
  • Implement project activities, prepare plan and write performance reports
  • Prepare project plans and budget reports of various activities of CARD when needed.
  • Work in coordination with different project stakeholders in different CARD projects
  • Follow up on the implementation of specific and detailed plans and quick-win activities as planned by CARD projects
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Genuine commitment for human rights, democracy, justice and inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable social groups
  • Solid grasp of democracy, human rights, justice and inclusion principles;
  • Readiness to work in a newly establishing institution and willingness to grow with the institution and the cause it advocates
  • Excellent command of Amharic and English. Knowledge on any other local languages is a great asset;
  • Experience with project implementation and monitoring,- capacity to act independently and creatively
  • Strong information technology and computer skills;
  • Willingness to adhere to the CARD code of conduct;
  • Having no criminal record in relation to child or women abuse;
  • A University degree (Bachelor or higher) in social science - we will be happy to consider applicants with non-social science degrees if they are able to demonstrate their interest and experience to work on democratization and human rights
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience related with project implementation
  • Experience of working in civil society organizations
  • Readiness to work in pressuring environment, over time and to travel out of Addis Ababa whenever it is needed.
