BACKGROUND

We provide quality and efficient consultancy services extending from facilitating entry of foreign investors to Ethiopia to institutional capacity building and work culture transformation for public and private organizations. Intrinsic Consultancy has a strategic focus on the Textile and Apparel, Leather and Footwear, Pharmaceutical, and Agro-Processing sectors.

BACKGROUND SPECIFIC TO THIS ASSIGNMENT

Large enterprises (local and foreign direct investment) can become catalysts for growth and development of MSMEs through their market linkages. For example, only 10% of factories’ in industrial park exports are added-value in-country. This is a major opportunity for local manufacturers to fill the gap and substitute the 90% of work imported currently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS OF THIS ENGAGEMENT INCLUDE:

Linkage Lead

• Establish, lead and manage a linkage team in close consultation with the employer
• Proactively promoting business-to-business linkages mainly with the investors in the IPs but will also be working with other foreign and local investors
• Regularly assess demand from the factories on the Industrial Park side and communicate widely with local manufacturers
• Identify linkage challenges and coordinate needed interventions in collaboration with development partners to enhance better linkages;
• Analyze different policy measures preferable for creating local linkage and promote investment local investors and present to the investment board
• Design various incentives for both FDIs and local manufacturers to promote FDI-local business linkages
• Regularly promoting IPs for domestic industrialists
• Include linkage parameter as part of reporting parameters investors report on
• Create a regular reporting and learning framework with all stakeholders
• Lead on communication and linkage promotion work

LEAD EXPERT QUALIFICATION:

The ideal candidate is expected:

• To have a strong understanding and knowledge of the linkage concept being proposed
• To have strong knowledge of the key actors (both private sector and government) in the linkage area being proposed
• To have strong program coordination and communication skills
• To have an MSC or above in Management, Economics, international relations or related fields and at least five years of relevant work experience
