CCM (www.ccm-italia.org) is an Italian NGO operating in: Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, South Sudan and Somalia, running health-related projects. In the frame of the project “One Health-Strengthening the resilience of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities affected by drought in the Liben Zone of the Somali Region (Ethiopia) - phase 2".” we are seeking one Community Mobilizer to integrate the CCM team for supporting the Project activities in Filtu and Dekasuftu Woredas.
Responsibilities:
Supports the Project Coordinator in the implementation of the veterinary activities;
S/he has the following responsibilities:
- Gives proper technical support to the veterinary officers of Filtu and Deka-Suftu woreda
- Is responsible for the organization of trainings on animal health and zoonotic diseases
- Analyses gaps and needs in the Animal Health Posts and other veterinary services and provide to the project coordinator a clear indication on items to be procured, giving support to the procurement officer to make sure the items are properly received, distributed and handed over to the local counterpart
- Analyse with local counterpart the gaps in the animal vaccination process and advice the project coordinator or possible intervention according to the available budget and in line with the project
- Ensures the awareness messages provided to the communities are in line with governmental guidelines and CCM One Health strategy
- Monthly reports to the project coordinator on activities and provide him/her with a plan for the following month. Prepare intermediate and final report according to the request of the Project Coordinator and the donors’ requirements (in English)
- According to the indications of the Project Coordinator, is responsible for the budget breakdown needed to implement the activities
- Actively participate to information exchange with the other CCM staff working in the area on other projects (i.e. with the CCM staff working on IDPs)
- Represent CCM in the meetings with local and regional authorities
Any other task not mentioned above requested by the Project Coordinator
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary
- Experience in veterinary intervention and development projects
- Excellent ability in analysis, negotiation skills and team working
- Availability in performing field visits and overnight
- IT skills
- Amharic and English languages knowledge. Somali language knowledge is considered an asset
