Job purpose

Our company seeks to hire competent VSAT Satellite installers to install and maintain satellite receivers; to train Satellite Installers; and to supervise installations in remote locations.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Conduct site survey – determine the best positioning of Satellite antenna for strongest signal reception.
• Equipment installation - place mounts, satellite dishes and receivers ensuring satellite connectivity.
• Install, configure and maintain IP & IT related products include switches, routers and servers
• Satellite commissioning and site integration
• Perform monitoring and maintenance of satellite and RF units
• Solve major technical issues
• Management of satellites including installation, pointing, commissioning, routing and tracking systems
• Energy management: installation, maintenance and supervision of solar energy systems (batteries, solar panels, inverters, roof mounting, charge controllers)
• Execution of periodic maintenance on users' workstations (computers and tablets) and the server room
• Run diagnostics based on performance thresholds
• LAN administration, including IT support for staff
• Configuration and administration of a Wi-Fi network preferable

Qualifications

Education and Training 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electronics/radio transmission
• Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification preferable

Work Experience Requirement  

• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in telecom domain
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in VSAT installation
• Experience in solving major technical issues
• Experience in configuring satellite modems
• Experience in prevention and troubleshooting
• Experience in field work in rural Ethiopia (highly recommended)

Skills and Competency 

• Fluent in BOTH in English and Amharic; able to understand installation manuals and documents
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills  

Working Conditions

• Willing to travel to remote locations and work hours set by the company.
