ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF WASH COORDINATOR
- Direct effective and timely implementation of the WASH projects in the assigned zone/region
- Develop detailed work plan and implement the project activities (the water supply rehabilitation and hygiene and sanitation activities) as specified in the work plan
- Responsible for the successful implementation of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene promotion tasks in the assigned Woreda/zone
- Monitor and follow up timely and quality implementation of all activities (the water supply rehabilitation and hygiene and sanitation activities)
- Collaborate with relevant partners at the state, local government and community levels to ensure integration and high level implementation of all WASH activities on the signature project.
- Provide technical support and timely feedback to State and LGA teams on WASH activities
- Develop activity plans and budgets for technical support activities related to WASH.
- Coordinate WASH activities and ensure delivery of WASH services to beneficiaries
- Report regularly on WASH activity implementation and maintain accurate records of all relevant WASH performance indicators
- WASH Coordinator will be totally responsible to oversee the successful and quality implementation of water supply and sanitation facilities constructions in the assigned zone/region within the time frame
- Take measurements of the construction activities, prepare payment certificates together with the contractors and send the payment certificates to HO for approval and payments
- Report to the HO WASH team and the assigned zone/region manager on the progress of latrine construction, the water supply rehabilitation and hygiene and sanitation activities, and other relevant update
- Coordinate the activities of project officers and supervise the punctuality and quality of their work
- Develop hygiene education training sessions and tools;
- Train local communities/caretaker of beneficiaries on water storage and management;
- Initiate procurement to ensure adequate supplies for water, hygiene and sanitation activities for the project.
- Organize training for WASH-Cos and ensure that the WASH-Cos are well functioning
JOB REQUIREMENT
- Education: University degree in Civil / Environmental / Water Engineering/ Public Health/ Nutrition/ Nursing or related field
- Experience: Minimum of 3 year experience on WASH project and relevant experience preferably with an NGO setting
- Have technical background and knowledge in environmental health and demonstrated work experience in water and sanitation in designing and implementing hygiene promotion/hygiene education programs.
- Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
- Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources
- Excellent communication and coordination skill, preferably with the community and Woreda line departments government
Language Requirements: Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic
